Project Highlights
Located offshore in approximately 700 ft. water depth, three platforms required decommissioning. A specialized offshore crew managed various elements of the project while simultaneous operations were ongoing that involved well plugging and abandonment (P&A).
Project Scope of Work
The company awarded Hydra Offshore Construction the project to provide dedicated support for the flush and purge of more than 160 offshore storage and processing tanks and vessels.
Hydra identified the sequence and method to safely enter and clean the tanks and vessels which were filled with hydrocarbons, chemicals, water and other substances. The efficient mobilization of crews and equipment allowed for timely execution.
Challenges
The location of the project required the team to carefully adhere to rigorous state regulations and emissions laws. In addition, the platforms underwent harsh weather conditions throughout the project, including high winds and heavy fog. The hazardous environment, caused by lower explosive limit, naturally occurring radioactive material and hydrogen sulfide gas releases, demanded that special precautions be taken.
